A participative conference for nurses who work with children, newborns to adolescents, and their families, to consider and celebrate their contribution to excellence in care
We are excited to welcome you to the website of the fourth Biennial Building Children’s Nursing for Africa Conference. The theme for our 2019 conference is "Constructs of Care".
We remain committed to creating a conference that will showcase and celebrate recent research, clinical practice projects, education and leadership initiatives.
Global and local health services continue to be challenged by austerity and material resource constrains, yet we continue to see committed care of children and families. Local solutions and models of care provision often defy available resources with innovative and even courageous approaches.
You will see from our themes that we continue to be excited about showcasing good and well-reasoned clinical nursing. As we build this year with the theme ‘Constructs of Care’, we are particularly excited about models and approaches to care that are pioneered, described and evaluated in local practice settings.
The emerging neurobiological understandings confirm what many generations of families have always known: children and those of us who care for them require authentic and supportive relationships to thrive, these include nurses and families. We are looking forward to celebrating how this understanding informs research endeavours, facilitates teaching and learning, and influences approaches of involving families to maintain their supportive care role.
So, expect engaging workshops and lively conversations about collaboration and innovative strategies of enrolling people in the rich diversity of cultures nurses represent and serve.
If you are working in the field of paediatrics do consider submitting an abstract, presenting a poster or even making a movie! Whether or not you have attended one of our previous conferences, this is a great opportunity to share innovative practice and evidence based care that improves child health outcomes.
We look forward to welcoming you to Cape Town’s River Club, to gather, to be refreshed and inspired!
